Adam Gray Wins Primary Election for Congress

For Immediate Release: June 7, 2022 Contact: Mike Lynch – (209) 380-5841

(Merced) – Adam Gray moved one step closer to representing the 13th Congressional District in the US House of Representatives today when he secured enough votes to advance to the General Election. CA-13 is a newly drawn open seat composed of Merced County and portions of the counties of Stanislaus, Madera, Fresno, and San Joaquin. Gray has represented nearly 70% of the residents of CA-13 in the State Legislature over the last decade. “This election is about our economy, our personal freedom, our safety, and our quality of life,” said Gray. “Democrat, Republican, independent doesn’t matter. We all want safe streets, good jobs, affordable health care, and better schools. In the Valley, we need clean and reliable water for any of that to be possible. That’s what I have fought for in Sacramento, and it’s what I will continue to fight for in Washington.” Gray earned the support of a diverse coalition of supporters from across the political spectrum, including Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims, Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke, Stanislaus County Sheriff Jeff Dirkse as well as firefighters, teachers, cops, health care workers, and the Blue Dog Democrats. Gray is also endorsed by over 100 local elected officials representing both political parties. “I am proud of the diverse and bipartisan coalition we have built around this campaign. I don’t think many voters realize just how rare it is to see Democrats and Republicans support the same candidate. When you are from a community and people know who you are, your party doesn’t matter as much as your character. I live here. I went to school here. I grew up playing little league here. No one else on the ballot today could say the same, and that made the difference.” In their joint endorsement of Gray, the Fresno Bee, Modesto Bee, and Merced Sun-Star all agreed: “No one up and down the northern San Joaquin Valley has been a stronger leader against the state water grab.”
